  1. The largest pastel set you can afford. Rembrandt is a good base set to start with (a minimum of 90 sticks and more if you can afford it)
  2. 5-6 sheets of Canson Mi Tientes pastel paper. It is approx. 19”x 24” . The color which I prefer are “Felt Gray”. You will be using the smooth side of the paper.  “Do Not Get Strathmore” paper.
  3. Several sticks of Hard or Med. Vine Charcoal
  4. Kneaded Eraser
  5. Paint brush, somewhat stiff. Not a Sable. It should be free of oils or turps. This is used to take pastel off of your paper
  6. Drawing Board that fits the paper. Masonite works well.
