Description
Follow the light to sculpt the figure in a creative, progressive environment.  Work with live models and your preferred medium: pencils, charcoal, pastels, conte and watercolor. Emphasis will be on learning to see the figure, creative composition, design, attitudes, dynamics, tension and technique. Classes are geared toward all levels, but some prior drawing experience is strongly suggested. 8 weeks.

There will be a shared model fee between $40-$60 on the first day of class.

Supplies
  • 1-Newsprint pad (generic), at least 18x24
  • 1- Full size Strathmore or Canson Drawing pad, prefer 18x24
  • pencils: H,F,HB, 8H,9H,B, 2B.4B, 9B (there are more, you can add to your collection as needed)
  • kneaded erasers, white erasers (NO Pink Pearl)
  • vine charcoal, prefer soft & extra soft; willow charcoal is optional addition
  • vine charcoal logs: wide diameter (at least 1/2) & 3 long (grumbacher &/or prismacolor.soft)
  • compressed charcoal (alphacolor char-kole)
  • charcoal pencils (GENERALs soft, med, hard)
  • blending stumps, # 3, #4, #5
  • woodless pencils Strongly Suggested, in HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 9B prefer Faber Castell)
  • OPTIONAL => alphacolor value scale pastels: a set of greys w/12 sticks in one pack
  • OPTIONAL =>Artist's tape (white), Masking tape
  • OPTIONAL => additional, optional materials will be discussed in the first class. for example: conte, pastels, color pencils &/or watercolor pencils, chamois, sponges
