Description
Good composition makes
the difference between an 'ok' piece and a 'wow!' piece. It's also
the skill you need to make the transition from copying other
artists' work or photographer's work to creating your own original
artwork. We'll spend several weeks on how to set up and work
from a still life, focusing on moving quickly and accurately from a
rough thumbnail to a finished piece. Later in the session,
you'll be encouraged to bring in your own photos for
critique--learning what to look for in good reference photos and how
to manipulate them--and then create a finished piece from one of
your photos. Students can work either in charcoal or pastel.
Prior completion of a pastel class is required to work in pastel.
